Million Live! introduces a distinct dynamic compared to other spin-offs: the new idols actively work with and interact with the established idols of 765 Production. The initial roster consists of 37 new characters, while the 765 Production team comprises 13 original members. Later, the Theater Days game expanded this cast by adding two more idols and a secretary. Visual elements and general designs for the franchise are largely credited to A-1 Pictures, the studio behind several Idolmaster anime series. The narrative setting is defined by the 765 Live Theater, where these diverse groups converge. Seven of the Million Live! idols were featured in the film The Idolmaster Movie: Beyond the Brilliant Future!. The scope of the group's activities includes special anniversary animations, such as a video for Mirai Kasuga created for the first anniversary and a 10-minute animation for the fourth, both produced by A-1 Pictures.

In Their Own Story

The journey began with the GREE game released on February 27, 2013. Players acted as producers, training idols obtained through cards ranked by rarity in Vocal, Dance, Visual, and a special Ex category. Leveling these cards increased their strength, with higher rarities reaching higher levels. The objective involved sending idols to various locations while expanding the 765 Production Theater. The feature phone version was discontinued on February 2, 2016, followed by a desktop client release that same month; the entire GREE service ended on March 19, 2018. On June 29, 2017, the rhythm game Idolmaster Million Live! Theater Days arrived for Android and iOS. This title utilized 3D models, periodic story missions, and multiple-choice 'communication' events, reusing many cards from the original game. The anime television series adaptation was announced during the Theater Days 3rd anniversary livestream in July 2020. Directed by Shinya Watada with character designs by Tetsuya Ishii and Kaori Tsuta, it premiered on October 8, 2023, on TV Tokyo after a theatrical release split into three parts between August and October 2023.

Fans can access the franchise through its remaining active game, Theater Days, or by engaging with its extensive media releases. The original GREE game is no longer available as it ended service in March 2018. For music enthusiasts, Lantis (later part of Bandai Namco Arts) published image songs integrated into Theater Days gameplay. By 2017, combined sales of CDs and concert Blu-rays surpassed one million units, with The@ter Generation 01 Brand New Theater! earning a Gold certification from the RIAJ. Manga fans have two primary series: The Idolmaster Million Live! by Yuki Monji (Monthly Shōnen Sunday, August 2014–October 2016), which included original CDs with collected volumes, and The Idolmaster Million Live!
